Rotary Press Perf 11 Taller Or Wider Than Flat Printed

If a one cent washington stamp is perf 11 and taller than a flat plate printed stamp of the same design is it a scott 544

If a one cent washington stamp is perf 11 and wider than a flat plate printed stamp of the same design is it a scott 545

Scott 545 was perforated from coil waste of the rotary press 1 cent Scott 490 coil. The design width and height must match that coil or a rotary press horizontal coil like 492 from the same series. Flat plate booklet pane singles are wider and slightly shorter than flat plate sheet stamps. Expertizing requires determining what the stamp is, not what it is not.

The perf 11 sheet stamp, Scott 544, was perforated from sheet waste of Scott 543. The design height and width should match the perf 10 sheet stamp, Scott 543.

So if I want to tell a flat plate from a rotary plate the rotary plate printing is always going to be longer or wider than the flat plate and the flat plate will always be the same length but wider or the same width but longer
