Show Off Your Postcards With Correspondences

Hello, everyone! I'm relatively new to the world of collecting, but I know one of my favorite types of item to collect are postcards with correspondences on the back. I also like to see the pictures on the front and guess why the sender might've chosen that particular design.

I have a few US postcards from 1908 in my collection right now (featuring the 1903 1¢ Blue-Green Benjamin Franklin stamp – US #300, I think?) that I received with a hope chest I was given by an older gentleman. I don't have a scanner or I'd post pictures.

I'd love to see some of the postcards with correspondences any of you have in your collection if anyone would care to share :)

I suggest you search both the US & WW postcard forums for 'esperanto', 'penmanship', 'handwriting' ...

Here's one that I posted in another thread back when I got it, but I think it's particularly apt for this thread.


The image of pretty Japanese women in kimono walking under the cherry blossoms is an interesting counterpoint to the message on the reverse about life in Japan right after World War II: "All is very peaceful over here, but the cities are wrecks and the people are living very hard lives."

Very interesting postcard, erilaz! Thank you so much for sharing. A beautiful image, but you are correct, the message and the time period it was sent paint a very different picture.

The route he flew on the airplane is quite interesting, and shows where some of the US's key airbases were, in the Pacific.
