Any help would be appreciated... I see that this stamp was released only with a couple of overprints(scott #41 1873). Obviously, this does not have them. Is this a counterfeit, or... ?

Yes this is a bogus stamp.A " DOS CENTAVOS" does not exist.
It looks like the overprint was removed.

After looking closer ,the overprint seems to be there….(so it is not bogus)

I soaked it from its backing... I don't see evidence of overprinting removal, as the cancel is intact and there are no lines "glowing" under a black light. I do see that the known forgeries of this (and others of the design) invariably have a 'pendant' for left of the base of the D in "CORREO DE LOS...", and the Genuine example have a thin, straight line. Did I miss something?

I think the the overprint was very very lightly applied.

There are 4 different overprints. on the medio Real. Only 2 have premiums for inverted ovpts. The other 2 are cataloged much cheaper than the upright type.

This is Scott 37b 1873, ok it has an inverted overprint but the stamp is worthless with 2 trimmed sides. My old Scott prices these at $50. In perfect condition.
