Wonder why they would be trying to sell that on ebay and not at some flash auction house? Does the seller have that sort a reputation on ebay? Why do I have alarm bells going off? |

For me it's the fact that the ONLY pre QE2 key stamp present is the £1 PUC
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. There's no 10/- seahorse, no 2'6 QV, no 10/- KG6. The condition of the QV material is very mixed and a lot of things seem stuck in with tape.
Alarm bells indeed........ |

I don't know what he is doing but I like lining up my Washington's on one page just to look at them. There is no telling. Looking at it again; He just seems to enjoy the repetition, I mean I see nothing wrong with it. They look like they are worth a sum. |

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. One is the second most common number of "key" stamps that you find in a collection (second only to zero, of course). The £1 PUC is among the most common of the UK "keys" as well. You don't see collections with sound QV pound values selling intact, especially on ebay, very often. I would be far more suspicious if there were multiple "keys" -- then I'd want to know why they were selling it on the Bay. |

A little respect for the Swedish Tiger, please.
As for the alarm bells ringing, that's getting into paranoid territory if you ask me. There was no effort to fully sort the QV-KGV issues and the collection turns mint/used by KGVI. It looks like Sir Rodney was more an accumulator rather than a student of philately. So someone plunked in a £1 PUC; the magic hand shows the back and what looks like a small hinge thin, not that anyone today was going to try to pay more than 50p for it ("it's cut out from the 2010 presentation pack." Yeah, sure). The collection is what it is. It is not spectacular, nor does it claim to be.
Not too many auction houses will scan most or every page. Whether that is worth the effort, I don't know. |

The scotch tape is off-putting as the glue shouldn't be anywhere near stamps. And the odd scraps of paper stamps are mounted on before they got taped into the albums is pretty strange. The write-ups are very basic, nothing fancy. The page layouts are a mess. It's sloppily idiosyncatic and needs remounting to save many of the stamps. Even the album pages look low quality. But so what? It has a lot of classic stamps, a few are very nice, and it would be a pleasure to remount them in better albums. Away from the scotch tape and on better pages, it could look a lot nicer. It's a strange and messy collection, OBE or not. |

I'm surprised it did that well. Someone's going to be very busy though. Let's hope they have lots of fun with it. |

As mention above a lot of problems with that accumulation ,clearly not a collection . Needs to be remounted ,I am surprised on the price .
As a auction buyer myself when you see damaged stamps the first thing that comes to mind is that even the better looking stamps are hiding faults and inspection is going to take a lot longer . |
