I occasionally scan the reverse of covers to show the markings or printing on the back side, but when I print them the images are larger than the originals.

How do I size these scans so when printed they are the same size as the original?

Check your print options as you could have them setup to adjust the print size. Your print options should be set as print as actual size.

Your scanner probably has the ability to scan to a smaller size. My Canon scanner certainly does although I do not use it. There are several good and free imaging programs available for Windows. I know nothing about Apple software.

If you are new to this you need to understand print size and resolution. It is not difficult but is vital. Ask if you need any more help.

Many image print programs think everyone is printing photographs, so their defaults are set to a standard photograph size: 3x5, 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10.

One quick way to control the print size is to open a blank MS word document, and insert the scan of the cover reverse there. You can then quickly drag a corner to the desired size, and print. No need to save the file unless you want to keep it for future reference.

Thank you for the replies. I could not find a print size adjustment, but used the above technique and it worked. Problem seems solved.
