For your viewing pleasure I present the following One cent Franklin:
Is this simply where two sheets were pasted together when manufacturing the coil or is this result of someone attempting (badly) to repair a damaged stamp. Also, at the upper right on the back is that a partial single-line watermark making this a Scott 385?
The early coils were made by paste-ups of sheet-stock. The paste-up overlaps will occur naturally every 20 stamps. That said, it may still be genuine or fake depending on other factors that the Washington/Franklin experts can address.
The perforation holes appear too clean to me. My guess is that it a genuine 383V paste-up coil single (the imperforate coil), but with fake perforations added.
Third and forth perf. hole from the right on the top perfs. aren't lining up with the rest of the perfs. Also, it looks like the top perfs. are drifting up slightly right to left. I agree the perfs. look too clean. Perfs. may well be added.
