Question About Irish Postmark

Hey All,
I have this 1975 cover from Ireland and I'm trying to figure out the town on the postmark. I think it's Gleanntaigh or something to close to that. Either way, google, google maps nor failling grain was able to help me identify this town. Goggle suggest Glenbeigh or Glanbehy (Irish: Gleann Beithe), but I don't have any real connection. Anyone else have any ideas?

edit: I found another cover with the same postmark - it's Gleanntaigh, but still nothing is showing up.

Battlestamps is probably correct, lots of towns have an anglicized name that is used commonly and an Erse name that appears in official places like railroad depots and Road signs. for example Luimneach or something similar is Limerick. Only the most ardent patriot would use the Gaelic name.

I'm always intrigued by how place names have one name in the local language and a completely different one that everyone else calls it. Speaking of different names in Ireland, the official name of Dublin is Baile Atha Cliath (with an acute accent over the first A in Atha.) I once went on a river cruise on the Liffey in Dublin, and our tour guide gave us a lesson on how to pronounce the name (something like Bye la Ath ah Clee ah - the "th" in Cliath is silent) Then there's all the different names for the nationality and language of German, which of course in English is: German, but in German itself, it's Deutsch, in Spanish it's Aleman, and in Italian it's Tedesco. None of these are even remotely like each other. I wonder how all these different names come into being.

The road sign and postmark appear to reflect an older form of the village's name in Irish.

The standard spelling now seems to be "Na Gleannta" (the glens) with the silent final letters dropped from "Gleanntaigh".

Irish spelling was standardised and simplified to some extent around the middle of the century.
