What have I gotten myself into? Arranging hundreds of wildings in the albums is just crazy.

It was fun for a certain number of pages, after that, filling up the pages just becomes mind numbing. I have not even sorted the the different watermarks. |

Yes what is your motivation pennyblackie? If just for the joy of sorting what about glassine envelopes instead of stockbooks? You can always sort by watermark later, after sorting by denomination. |

some people just have that urge to organize....
if you do this to sell, then it's really REALLY not worth the time and aching back... if you're doing this to get into it.. placing them in an album is foolish, you have to place them on visir pages as you will have to move than around many times. |

My motivation is actually to clear the basket of loose stamps so that I can better organise my dry cabinet. |

May want to sell my entire wildings collection off, so I am arranging in cheap stock books in case I need to present. I reckon there should be at least 150 complete sets. |

Galeoptix, what is with that back scan? I have at least a hundred of that stamp. |

I know you didn't ask for advice, so by all means ignore me, but ... if you have 150 complete sets, I would personally start with the 11d plums - work out how many good examples you have, and extend a complete set for each one by just sifting for fine used copies of the others (higher denominations first).
Apart from rummaging through the bulk for phosphor and graphite lines, I wouldn't spend my time on the low denominations - I would think they'd be happy being stuffed into an envelope.
On the other hand, if you're having fun - crack on! |

Ringo, thanks for your advice. You are right, I should probably start with the higher value ones first. Didn't really see any graphite ones so far, but may have a few. The 11d plums have to be upright tudor crown watermark to be really worth anything, the st edwards are only 50p. |

if you're aiming to sell, don't arrange them.
if they're on pages, you'll deter some buyers that look for options in flyspecking, people who collect cancels, variantions love to go through envelopes hunting for something usuable.
sell off the good values on small pages, and leave the rest in a box.
less work = more profit. |

Sorsh, that's an idea as well. Will probably arrange those with £2 upwards in cv in the album and stick the rest in plastic packets. |
