Another wonderful (not) buying experience from a long time dealer who I have bought from before but won't any more.

I bid on some Belgium Davo albums and was out bid on both of them which is not a problem as their prices get quite high.

Below are the bids for item # 352589112793

I was the under bidder on the lot.

I get an email this morning with a second chance offer at $107.50 as the high bidder has cancelled.

Now, if the supposed bidder that cancelled was not involved, I would have won the lot at 1 increment over the $57.55 which was the last legitimate bid before mine.

Personally, this is game playing to find the next highest bid and try to get me on a 2nd chance offer. I have told them the same.

It really surprised me they would do this, but their feedback is starting to have some problems as well and they have had description issues in the past as well.

What would every one elses opinion be on this matter?

I bought a BRD Lighthouse album, almost complete, from them several months ago. Price/bidding was fine, but have to admit to a little disappointment by the condition of the pages - somewhat "warped", and that should have been clearer in the listing. The stamps were all fine.

Smells fishy to me. I'd steer clear of them.

As a general rule, second chance offers are something to steer clear of. The only time I've availed myself of a second chance offer is when the seller has happened to have two of the item. If it's based upon the high bidder backing out, I decline.

Sounds like shill bidding, it's rampant on ebay, if they don't draw you into over bidding then the next thing is the second chance offer.

Know nothing about this seller ... I try to stay with sellers who have at least 98 percent positive feedback, though maybe this seller meets that criteria. Thanks for the warning.

Just for the record a seller is constrained in making a 2nd Chance Offer. I can offer it to any of the underbidders but can only offer it at their top bid. ebay does not allow me to offer a lower price.

I tried to use it in a situation like this but wanted to offer it at 1 increment over the 3rd high bidder but couldn't do it.
