USPS: Is There A Black Hole In New Jersey?

For the past few months I have been having issues with ebay sales
items I mail running into inexplicable delays and in one case vanishing while enroute to addresses in NJ. The shipment that vanished was tracked to a sorting center in Jersey City where it dropped off radar. I now am tracking a first class package I mailed ten days ago to Princeton that looks as if it never left Omaha. That one shows on ebay tracking with a not in system.

No offense to the fine folks on here from NJ but if this were another country I'd be blocking sales there now. The one mailing disappeared and I had to eat that. Three others were so late I nearly had to do the same. Anyone else notice this?

And I thought it was just me. I made a purchase on Amazon and it sat at a USPS location in NJ for 2 weeks before finally moving. When I contacted the sender to cancel the order their reply was pretty much, be patient it is on the way.

My Amazon's that come from Jersey are taking 3 to 4 days although Prime is saying 2 days - I can see it sitting and not moving - I let it go through Christmas but now it is annoying -

As a Jersey resident I can say that I have not had any exceptional delays either from ebay, Amazon or other auction houses that I utilize

Has the cold been affecting delivery, like it has up here in Canada? Or is it just one plant bottleneck slowing everything down. One thing noticable this year in Canada. Standard delivery of packages seem to have gone from a standard of 4 to 6 days to 6 to 8.

'Not in System'. It's been ten days now.I feel a forced refund is in my future. Damn USPS.

Postscript: The item apparently arrived, I got positive feedback.

One of those cases where tracking just didn't work. I have been told that sometimes something as minor as a stray mark on the bar code can invalidate it.

As one who does live in NJ, I can say that the mail system SUCKS. It can take a week for a letter to get cross town. Sometimes longer!
