I have seen a post from jbcev80 in 2010 (https://goscf.com/t/10582#94775)
where he mentions two fiscal Venezuelian stamps of 1947, 5c and 10c, which bore an overprint (Correos de Venezuela) to be used postally. Does jbcev80 or anybody knows whether the Scott catalog mentions any value for these stamps?
Thanks in advance

Many revenue stamps were used in this time period in Venezuela for franking as postage stamps . The Government authorized two stamps but unofficial many were used .

Thank you, Floortrader, I knew that, but I have in mind those two (5c green and 10c brown), with vertical overprint just "CORREOS DE VENEZUELA", which are said to be "quite rare" in Yvert & Tellier, but without CV. I was wondering whether Scott gives any value for these (I don't have the Scott catalog).

Scott makes no mention of a "Correos de Venezuela" overprint on these revenue stamps--only the surcharged examples as shown by floortrader.

Gettinold,
Yes, these are those I had in mind: this 5c and a 10 c brownish. Did you find them mentioned in a catalogue?

No. The catalog I use is Scott's 1840-1940. I will go to the local library and look in the Scott catalogs there to see if they're mentioned. Stay tuned.

The two revenues overprinted with "CORREOS DE VENEZUELA" are listed in Stanley Gibbons as SG 774 & SG 775 from 1947.

My old 2009 Scott catalogue doesn't list them.

However, it shows a revenue stamp of the same design and notes that the 5c and 10c were authorised for postal use but doesn't mention the overprint.

Signed the catalog out of the library. Scanned what limited information is contained in the 2018 edition of Scott. As nigelc and perf12 have said there is no info in Scott on this particular overprint. Scott goes into detail on the surcharges but remains mum on the overprints:

Nigelc indicated Stanley Gibbons identifies these issues with the overprint. I do not have access to a Stanley Gibbons catalog.

Hello Nigelc,
Does Stanley & Gibbons give a catalogue value for the 774 and 775?

Hi pbonv49,

Stanley Gibbons only list these two stamps in Part 20 (South America) in their main catalogue and new editions of this appear only very rarely.

The latest edition is from 2008 and it gives the following prices:

SG 774 mint £9.25 used £7.00

SG 775 mint £9.25 used £7.00

These mint prices are for unmounted mint, i.e. MNH.
