Imperf Orchid Scott 2078

So I'm going through a large shoe box of stamps putting together used sets, and after I put on my stamp lift fluid, I realize this is a imperf. Can't find a listing for imperf in this stamp. Any help would be great!!!

No such imperf. This is just the normal stamp with perfs trimmed off, unfortunately:


You can see the large white areas here around the designs. Even if there were an imperf of this, this example could not be proven as genuine with such small margins relative to a perfed stamp.

I just found another in same box, I guess someone had nothing better to do try and trick a stamp collector, thank you for your time.

Back in the late 70's I was talking with a local dealer in Florida when an elderly gentleman came in with a bulging Scott National album. He was interested in selling his lifetime collection.

I was watching from the sidelines as the dealer opened the album and started going through it. The first pages and on were complete, with additional stamps to the sides added on many pages. All neatly mounted.

To say I was drooling would be an understatement...

Then he turned to the 1851-57 page. These were all imperforate too!

As was every page in the album. The gentleman explained he didn't like perforations to he just got rid of them.

Trimmed Columbians, Trans-Mississippi, early airmails, everything. I felt ill.

I have to give this dealer a tip of the hat for how he handled it. His response was that it was a lovely collection but was just too much for him to handle. He suggested the gentleman try talking to someone at the APS.

So, it's not necessarily that someone is trying to trick us. Perhaps, like this gentleman, they just didn't like perforations.
