Cousins, returning from "The Ministry of silly hats" I think.

Not sure if that is "Anzac" his favourite horse.

and one of the smaller definitives for sake of comparison (the smaller values are smaller in size and one color).

One of the Nyasaland keyplates...

I am pretty happy with the centering on this example.

Even a simple little 6d from Grenada had some style...

I'm sure it has been mentioned in another thread, but the boat is Columbus' La Concepcion.

Nice, and nicely priced.

I haven't seen too many of these in traditional auctions lately...they seem to be sitting there at inflated, fixed-price offerings. It is a space I still need to fill, but I haven't been diligently searching.

[edit: This was in reference to the Falkland piece Plateflaw posted...I've had bad luck with not refreshing the threads tonight. The intervening Downey head piece is also nice to have. ]

I know it's a little off topic (stamp wise) but thought you might like to see a 1927 medallion commemorating Canada's 60th anniversary of Confederation.
King George V actually looks older than his grandmother.

Oh, great. Now I have to go find a 2011 Tuvalu stamp!

Bee, as far as you know, is the design original, or based on an old essay or something? It doesn't really evoke the old G&E stamps (not that it has to).

[edit: Looking back at the old pandanus pine issue, I see the design elements they used here...I like it. It is not on the bureau's website yet.]

There have been a few individual war tax threads here and there, but nothing encyclopedic. Here is one from Barbados:

SG197, overprinted in London. Scott MR1

There is an inverted watermark out there, according to SG, with a huge premium in CV.

(Gibbons also lists a pale red on bluish paper from 1918, but Scott has no MR2.)

CjD, the design is strictly my own artwork as it is Tuvalu's first personal stamp. My design is based on these:

+

The first GEIC stamps of Jan 1, 1911 were actually overprints on KE VII Fiji issues, but he was dead before they were issued.
