Great display, CJD. It almost inspires me to jump on the bandwagon!

Subject matter aside, his era produced some of the most detailed, engraved stamps in all of philately. Whether that can be attributed to him directly, or indirectly, is another topic but the fact remains, these are beautiful stamps!

Thank you for sharing!

Gilbert & Ellice war stamps were mentioned but not pictured in another of the War Tax threads...here is Scott MR1:

Here is a British Solomon Islands definitive postmarked at Shortland Island.

For those interested in World War II history, Shortland Island was situated just off Bougainville at the top of the Slot, used by the Japanese to resupply Guadalcanal. This stamp was canceled in 1938, which makes it a little later than I'd like, but I was interested in the location. In just a few years, this would become a very "exciting" place. It will be Veteran's Day here in an hour or so...thank a veteran. (And if you are a veteran, thanks.)

Well, Cjd, the George VI 1˝d wasn't issued until February 1939, so your George V was still the most recent stamp of that denomination available anywhere in the BSIP. No need to apologise for the late date.

Nice stamps Plateflaw! Incredible condition and the colours are phenomenal! Wonderful designs!

I just scanned my 1d. KGV Downey Heads, and prepared a collage of them so I could share them with you all. I have a long way to go to reach the level of collecting/research that my mentors have acheived, but I am happy with the way my own is developing!

Have a Good One,

Skilo54

Nice collage skilo54!

A couple of questions though my friend:

How did you shrink some so small?

What glue did you use to stick them to the black card?

I just used my shrink ray, as it had just got back from the shop! I also find licking the stamps to the black card the best way to get full adhesion, very important to ensure top marks at the exhibitions!

Thanks for asking Plateflaw!
