Hello everyone!

I'm not sure if I count as a new collector or a returning collector. Technically, I was introduced to stamp collecting as a kid roughly 20 years ago. My Grandfather had collected stamps his entire life and I thought it might be a good way to spend quality time with him (and really it could have been if not for us living so far apart.) That being said, on his next visit he taught me the basics of how to remove the stamps from envelopes and gave me a big stash of extra stamps to get started with. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with it very well and most of the stamps ended up ruined or neglected.
It's been one of those lost opportunities that's really haunted me over the years until recently when some of the surviving stamps re-surfaced. At first, I thought it might be nice to finish the project and make peace with the past but it's kind of evolved from there.. I've actually bought a stockbook and some assorted stamps and I'm having a surprisingly good time with it. So here's to starting over!

Gopartygo,

Welcome to the all-you-can-eat salad bar of philatelic dogma! If you are like me, you came here looking for wisdom; I have not been disappointed.

Enjoy...

Howdy, I as well just picked up the hobby again (middle of last year) after a long hiatus of multiple factors of your 20! :-p...

What is your focus? Any topics that you find yourself drawn to?

Welcome back! I'm sure your grandpa would be proud to see you back in action with the hobby you both shared.
