While this may not be a definitive answer ("definitive" ...get it?), here's a rough order of magnitude:
Go to <etsy-dot-com> and search on "Royal Rainbow 50 Vintage Great Britain Postage Stamps."

It sure is huge. It's been running for more than 50 years now, essentially unchanged. Must be the biggest, longest, most complex series ever. |

The challenge with collecting Machins is where do you stop? Stanley Gibbons lists more than Scott but even that does not cover many varieties. |

Yes, there are Scottish, Welsh, Northern Ireland and Manx (1971) Machins. But, no English Machins. The non-country Machins are really British machins. |

Quote: There is a British Machins stamp that the catalogs don't list,it is the largest size Machin stamp to be used and gone thru the mails ....does anybody have it ? You are referring to the Horizon Machin label. It is a form of variable rate stamp, with the service and denomination printed at the time of sale. I have a couple of these labels, but no images handy at the moment. If you perform a Google image search for "Horizon Machin label" you will get quite a few hits. They are listed in the Deegam Machin handbook. Robert |
