"not many experts knows the actual value of stamps".

I would disagree with that. People who are legitimately expert in some philatelic area are usually the ones most in touch with the market for that area. And they know which dealers are really knowledgeable in that area as well, so they know who to ask on anything they are not sure of or need a second opinion about.

I will agree to stop talking about dealers on here. I think it's for the good of the forum, which I do care about.

I have built my collection (a narrow field) mainly through dealers (a very narrow field.) They are also experts. They also have the goods. My knowledge is modest but my reference collection due to these dealers is so good I am able to correct Siegel,Kelleher,Aldrich & others without certs. I do purchase at auctions and ebay. It is more problematic, but I have my references to compare. The dealers are retail but usually not much if anymore than the auction houses. The service, attention, knowledge & quality well worth the exchange.

My humble experience in the here and now. My collection now is the highlight of 61 years as a collector. Serious no. Investment no. Fun. Like a 12 year old.

That's just awesome. I feel the same way... as a collector, dealer, expertizer. (I guess that makes me unpopular on this forum).

It has made me unpopular with some people, even though I only work for dealers rather then being one myself. So be it.
