We've had several threads here from new members who suddenly find themselves in possession of a stamp collections. Some of us have even suggested creating a FAQ about the topic.

Here's an online book addressing the topic -- www.inheritedstampcollection.com

I haven't seen this one before and I confess that I've only scanned some of the information; I haven't read it thoroughly, but it looks worthwhile.

Kirk,

I took a long look at that website and find it an excellent reference for anyone needing information about an inherited collection. It is also a good website for newbies with general questions.

Thanks for posting it.

Thanks, Butch:

After my post, I went back and read more in-depth. I too am impressed with the overall quality. I wondered if I'd get any feedback about the chapter that says, never, under any circumstance, hinge a stamp. The author is a proponent of mounting only. But, other than that, I didn't find anything amiss.

Yes, I read that too, about never hinging a stamp. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But to express that opinion to all the newbies that will be reading his website is wrong. Oh well....

However we do it, I think we need to archive that link as an answer to all the questions we get about it. It would save our members from having to repeat posts all the time.

I agree, swabbie:

Maybe Bobby could find a way to make it a permanent link somewhere.

The definitions and abbreviations page in chapter two was a helpful read. Thanks for posting that link.
