Funny how a listing page or two of those stamps, isn't just worth more than all my stamps, but it's more than all the contents of my house, and wait - yes the house too.

epic

All it takes is being a billionaire with a serious interest. It's great to see them all in one place, of course.

These types of blocks will ALWAYS be in fashion, at least most of them.

Lot 12 of the 1851-1856 lots is stunning. I wouldn't care how many faults it had.

Neither would I, since I collect double transfers and the block has 3.

SAN stands for Stamp Auction Network. Gross refers to William H. Gross, a billionaire whose stamp collections are in the process of being sold at auction. I would assume that currently he has a collection of blocks/multiples at auction.

JLLebbert thanks for clarifying- Do you buy from those auctions? are they only meant for high rollers and dealers?

Lots will sell for a few thousand dollars to a few hundred thousand. So it's definitely for high rollers. But it is really nice just to look at online or in the catalog. Amazing, one of a kind items.

AravindMichigan: The SAN offers access to many auctions. While I have made a purchase (only one) via a SAN auction, it was in the two-digit range. The Gross offerings are "look & drool" items.
