The first printing of the covers that were sent of the II Expedition were damaged when they became soaked in transit. These covers went by dog sled to a motorized snow dog tractor to the ship. It took one month to arrive in San Francisco and then was flown to Washington D.C. offices of the Byrd Expedition II.
