I have a large collection of PRC stamps from the 1960's that I want to sell using a US Auction house. Would it be more profitable to use Kelleher Auctions, which have 3 auctions in Hong Kong every year or Harmer, which has auctions in New York City?

It depends on the total value of the collection . The value and condition is the biggest factor . If your a one lot first time customer [ seller] most larger firm will offer you a purchase price .

Eastern Auctions Ltd. In New Brunswick Canada held a sale of the large Goldman PRC stamp collection on October 17, 2017. It garnered international attention from around the world. The prices realized were, shall we say, a way out of my reach.

Check out Canadian Stamp news volume 14 - #14. It is noted with a little detail.

As for which auction house to use, as noted you will need to give details, issues, about the collection and catalogue value, and ask about their commissions and fees as they vary from one to another depending on value of material for sale.

Edit: correct name spelling.

nongprue: welcome to the Forum. I agree with floortrader. You need to know the value of your collection; as near as possible; before sending it off to anybody. Once you have that, then do an inquiry to an auction house to advise what you THINK you might have. I put THINK in all capps because there can be many variations within any collection. Unless you're an expert in PRC, you may not know about each and every stamp. Example: I consider myself a near-expert in Portugal & colonies, but have little knowledge about my China collection, which I still have.

You might also consider Rasdale Auctions in suburban Chicago.

I concur on HR Harmer and Co.. Their realizations for PRC material are quite strong.

NONGPRUE - Welcome to the board ,you are going about this all wrong . Please do it right .

You need a education on PRC stamps ,the cheaper and faster education about stamps is only going to confuse you more .Buy the books, view the stamp auctions and ask questions here with pictures .

You want a really answer to the value ? I will give you 4 cents each for all your undamaged PRC stamps .....until someone comes here and offers you more that is the established price .
