Hmmmmm. The MCA watermark roller is oriented differently from my guess for the Crown CA one.

Corollary?: The dandy roll watermark was not made for that stamp format,
the only way that Wmk could arrive.

Indeed that is possible. There is at least one early Falklands stamp where watermarks are always way off center due to the sheet format and/or orientation of the sheet during printing.

So again, everyone should check theirs to see if off-center watermarks are the norm for this issue. I think I have only one stamp from that issue.

That's a nice example Rod!

With this layout had there been a marginal inscription I guess there could have been a vertical displacement in the watermark rather than a sideways one.

I wonder how much irritation the GPO, the paper manufacturers and printers felt from stamp collectors pointing out inconsistencies in watermarks!

Probably not much! We, the collecting community, have taken leave of our senses, by most people.

They do take notice when filthy lucre is involved.

My pleasure nigelc! As a dealer I wind up looking at a lot of watermarks, but this one had me stumped.
