Good Morning,

I have a non-adopted Canada Jacques Cartier preliminary. The page has multiple signatures. Hand written at top: "Purchased from the collection of ... Feb 1959, Dublin Ireland ... "

Bottom text: "Jacques Cartier
A lovely preliminary proposed but non-adopted drawing rendered in colored inks for the 1855 stamp issue for Canada.
The above differs from the accepted design as it shows leafs in the band surrounding the head EX Burrus Collection.
Canada - 1855."

Please let me know what I have here and if you can make out the signatures I would greatly appreciate knowing who they are. Thanks!

Likely "Maurice Burrus":

This drawing is very similar to number of US Official "Essay" that came on the market in that time period. They were later declared to be not genuine, but a non-contemporary drawing.
