A Mail Carrier Killed In The Line Of Duty.

Jose Hernandez, a mail carrier who had worked the streets of his neighborhood for twelve years, was killed on his route Monday when he tried to deescalate a fight between a seventeen year old neighborhood boy and his mother.

The fight was occurring on the street in front of their home when Jose was making his daily deliveries. The boy went inside his home and came out with a gun shooting Jose in the stomach. The wound later proved fatal.

Jose was a mail carrier out of the Five Points post office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "Jose was a very special guy -- he was not your ordinary mailman." according to Michael Shepard. "He would go out of his way. He would go out of his way to talk to you."
