I am trying to correctly interpret 2018 Scott classic catalog and whether or not Japan #175 has a watermark ? I see that #175a does but the next section is unclear to me, as it notes a larger size 19 x 22 1/2 mm and "old die " ( and no mention of Watermark). Thank you.

Turtle, Scott Catalogue regime has it, that the Watermark follows the same for following catalogue numbers until a written change. Similar for "engraved" and "Typo." etc & etc. Sometimes one has to go back a page or so to identify the Wmk of an issue.

Turtle...
As other have intimated, the Scott catalogue can often be confusing when it comes to watermarks, paper varieties, etc. The Mt Fuji (A49) group is one example. The "Tazawa" series (begins with Sc 115) even more so.
For the Mt Fuji series, watermark 141 (commonly referred to as the "zig-zag" watermark) carries through both the 1930-37 series and the 1922 - 29 series.
(As an aside, am still awaiting a response from Scott as to why these two series are listed in reverse chronological order.)
As shown in "floortrader"'s photo, there are also shade varieties in the Mr. Fuji group. Another aspect which Scott declines to address/include.
With a little practice, differentiating btwn "New Die" (narrow and short) and "Old Die" (taller and wider) becomes relatively easy. My approach is to lay the stamps on a dark background side-by-side. I have found the "height" difference easiest to gauge.
The three Mt. Fuji stamps in 1937 series (Sc 242, 246, 248) have the same perforations as the earlier versions. However, these stamps have watermark 257 ("curvey, wavy lines"). When checking watermarks, the difference btwn 141and 257 should be obvious.
Lastly, search the SCF archives. Believe you will find earlier discussions re Scott's "selective" approach to various Japanese stamps.
Have fun.
