http://www.franceandcolps.org/This is the link I was using in the past to connect to their home page. It brings up nothing now. I used to belong and was checking them out to see if it might be worth joining again. In the past they have gone through periods of issues with their site. If anyone knows what's going on, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

I just checked the links page on the 2nd link to U.K. website posted by redwoodandy. Good site for info about the society. It has a link to what stamps1962 posted about the site and sure enough, the us site is ? |

The UK site has some very interesting journals available for non-members. Thanks for the link. |

I appreciated the link to the UK society. My inquiry was however about the US group,it has the same name. I dug out a 2017 issue of their magazine and sent their President an email asking what may be going on. No reply as yet. |

Just got a reply from a Society officer:
'It's a disaster. I'm afraid. Apparently the host failed - lost all our info - so it has been looking like this for a couple of months. We are hoping to hire a new host and a reliable webmaster (our volunteer is too busy). Please try again in a month or so.'
It sounds like it will be a lot longer. They had over twenty years' of downloadable copies of their journals among other things.
This has been an ongoing thing with this group. Sort of tragic. |

Duh! I find it unbelievable that any respectable buisness acting as a host would not have a backup copy of what was on the website or at least in a cloud somewhere. Hopefully it was backed up daily, for instances like this. Maybe the U.K. society had a mirror backup copy of the site on its server? |

I suspect someone tried to do things on the cheap. That'll comeback and bite you often. |

The organization is still extant, and the newsletter is still published. I recently attended a meeting of their NYC area members at the Collectors Club. |

Time to move up for many clubs and societies . The STAMP COMMUNITY needs to start a seperate section for organizations . This new section could have as much as 30 different clubs with each having their pages .
The members can have their own webpages and hold monthly meetings here on this board ,only paying members can chat/post but visitors can read the pages .
This would be a income/ cover expenses for the COMMUNITY CHAT BOARD . It would limit outsiders from posting garbage to a club page . |

floortrader, a while back I did an informal poll on traditional societies or groups that have discussion groups online (some place to interact online) and could not find many that did. I do not think many want it for whatever reason. |
