I am hoping someone out there can translate for me what this apparent FDI cover is from China. I am guessing it's a picture of Norman Bethune but I am not sure. Also cannot tell what the post mark is - possibly 1930 or 1945 (although this looks more modern than that).

Thanks for your help.

Norman Bethune. I think maybe not.

The hint is the Scouting symbol in the oval and from China, possibly Taiwan and dated 1945, October 31st.

Also notice all the swastikas on the sides of the rectangle cancel on the left side.

Edit: removed who I thought the person may have been. Unsure.

As lithograving explained, the printed and colored cachet as well as on the stamp are both Chiang Kai-shek. The stamp is from Taiwan and was issued in 1956.

The oval rubber stamp cachet on the cover with the fleur-de-lis design in the center indicates this was created in commemoration of the Third National Jamboree that was held at Cheng Ching Lake, Ksohsiung in Taiwan. My guess is that it was created there as part of and during the Jamboree celebrations.

The year 45 in the postmark refers to the 45th year of the Republic of China, which was 1956 (the year of issue noted above).

Thanks for that erilaz. Cleared up my misunderstanding of that year in the oval rubberstamp postmark.
