Hi, everyone, I've actually been in the community for a few months now and already have nearly 100 posts so I think it's about time I introduced myself. I'd prefer not to use my real name, I like the anonymity. I've been a collector nearly all my life, over 60 years now, was born in the UK and emigrated to the US when I was 8 years old. I received my first album and a few stamps when I was probably about 6 or 7, and at the time my mother corresponded with relatives in the US and in South Africa, so my first few stamps were ones I soaked off letters, and with my meager allowance, bought a few of the cheap packets that were sold in places like Woolworth's. Well into my teens I still collected worldwide and it wasn't until my 20's when I bought a Scott International Junior Volume I that I decided to concentrate just on 1840-1940. Later still, meaning within the last 5 years I went full blast on collecting Great Britain, and to that end have concentrated on trying to achieve as close to completion as my budget will allow. I also purchased a job lot of Denmark about 3 years ago which was a good foundation for a collection of that country and there again I am as close to completion as I can afford. I also started an Art Deco collection a couple of years ago ,and soon had to break it into two separate collections, one for stamps, covers, cachets and cancellations, and the other for Cinderellas. It's a fascinating area, and, in particular some of the Art Deco Cinderellas from the 1930's are stunningly beautiful, and I would never have even known about them if I hadn't first started with the conventional stamps. I'm interested in all aspects of philately, so you will see my name pop up on a wide variety of forum topics. Very pleased to have discovered this community
