APS Promotions Opt-Out

All,

I submitted my application and dues to the APS a few moments ago. I wanted to confirm with current members of the APS that it'll take 30 days for the application to be approved/denied as I read through the by-laws.

Also, after reviewing some threads here I realized I did not check off the "Opt Out" for offers pertaining to my potential membership. Is there a way to have that checked off before I am officially added to the membership roll (assuming I am accepted)?

Why not ask the APS these questions ?

Thank you for applying to the APS and we're glad to have you. You can start enjoying membership benefits immediately while you are going through the membership review process. We do require your name to be published in the journal and then 30 days after that you are approved as a member, as long as there no stated objections.

You can opt out by logging on to the website and going to "MyAPS." Select the "My Profile" tab and you can request a change to "Membership Address Omission."

I was hoping the potential answers would help others who may have the same questions down the road and get a faster answer than waiting for a response (and to unburden the load that the APS staff may get in regards to repetitive emails.)

With subject line like "APS membership timeline"? How would they ever find them?

I thought that you were publishing membership totals by year, so as to spark yet another is-we-living-is-we-dying thread.

Perhaps a subject line along the lines of "APS promotions opt-out" ... ?
