So the other day I was posting to this site on my iPad and using the image optimizer. After resizing, for the life of me I could not find the save button. I looked and looked and looked and fumbled around for a long time. Then I decided to press and hold my finger on the resized image, not fining the save button anywhere and I was able to then save the resized image to the iPad then upload in the post.
Is that the way its suppose to work or did I just get lucky?
You found a good work-around for a webpage that apparently did not get rendered correctly.
Years ago browsers were promoted as 'write once, run anywhere'. In other words, they were supposed to be a cross platform 'vanilla container' which would render webpage the same no matter what device was being used.
Fail.
Instead what happened was that ever operating system company decided to 'tweak' their browser to 'make it slightly better' than the others. Now after a decade or two of companies all customizing their browsers we are about as far from 'write once, run anywhere' as you can get.
The result of this is that it is virtually impossible for developers to make webpages which render correctly on every device.
And keep in mind that this is not just about a single operating system or browser. There is an uncountable number of combinations that involve versions and other 'add-ons'. So it is literally impossible for website developers to test all the potential combinations. Don
tks Don. So what you are saying is that the Optimizer Program is a webpage based application that did not work properly???? I understand all the variables and what you are saying re: combinations and trying to make a one system that fits all. Is the Image Optimizer suppose to work on an iPad? I haven't tested it again, off to a class now, but was wondering if I just got lucky . Not complaining#128513;. Tks
The image optimiser doesn't work perfectly all the time. My advise is to download QReduce app to reduce the file size so you can just do the normal upload. I use the mobile phone to upload images on the site all the time so the app works perfectly.
