New York Foreign Mail cancellation.
Bill Weiss wrote a major book on these and Nick Kirke wrote an article extending and refining his work in the USPCS Chronicle in 2016

Here's a link to Nick's exhibit on them:

Your cancel was identified by Weiss as ST-8P5 and by Van Vlissingen & Waud (an earlier book on the subject) as A9/10. In his book Weiss noted the existence of 20 covers, all used in the first quarter of 1875. The earliest datable cover was postmarked on January 20 1875, so yours is a nice early usage. Of the covers in his census there is only one other cover with an Austria destination. Keep in mind that the information in his work is now nearly 29 years old. The number of covers with this cancel is bound to be larger now as while it is an eyecatching cancel it is not rare as New York Foreign Mail cancellations go.The Van Vlissingen & Waud book can be downloaded for free from the Chicago Collectors Club website. You will need to purchase the Weiss book from a literature dealer.
