I'm considering several different software packages to manage my collection and create my own albums and album pages. I'm leaning towards AlbumGen and EZ Stamp. Does anyone have experience with AlbumGen or EZ Stamp that you wouldn't mind sharing?
I have a few specific questions.
Does AlbumGen run on Windows 7? Their website doesn't indicate it.
Is either program "glitchy"?
If you had problems how well did SoftPro support you?
What do you like best?
What is a pain to work with, if anything?

I've been in stamps long before the home computer was invented so I keep track of my stamps the old fashion way. I think printing out your own pages would be fun. I bought mine pre-printed.

I keep all the information I need in a database program that came with my computer. With a database program you can set it up any way you like, and it's easy to backup.

I did the 30 day free trial of EZ Stamp and ended up getting StampManage instead because I preferred it. I found StampManage was set out better, more like a typical Windows program, whereas EZ Stamp I found harder to read the data, just the way it was laid out. I also liked that StampManage let you select a few more finer details about each stamp and had more options to enter other info if you liked. EZ Stamp is probably quicker though if you already have a lot of stamps to catalogue.

It's probably just personal as to which one you would prefer to use. I'd recommend trialing them both, you can do 30 day free with each. I didn't find any glitches or have any problems with either.

I have EZ Stamp and find it to be a great program. I can scan in copies of my stamp instead of using the ones supplied with the program. I have not had any problems using the program. I really like being able to create priority want lists. When I enter in a set of stamps I add the ones I don't have to my priority want list for that country. When I go to a stamp show can take my priority want lists instead of the Scott Catalogues. Just wish more countries were completed. I have AlbumGen also. Haven't used it much but it looks to be good. The data from EZ Stamp can be imported to Album Gen to make your pages. Need to get a printer that can handle Scott International Pages instead of just 8 1/2 x 11.

From a page creation perspective I was thinking of using PageMaker or the new Adobe InDesign to modify Steiner pages. I'm thinking mods might be easier than starting from scratch....especially since I like Steiner pages and just want to add some illustrations, text, etc. to a few of the pages and use standard Steiner for most. I also have a few Scott albums I'm simply supplementing or adding pages to complement a country I collect on International pages.

I haven't gotten interested in inventory programs for stamps yet although I have used them for other hobbies. I might try EZ Stamp for a country I'm pursuing.
