Hello guys

All you know me as a flyspecker...Good or bad, I can't stop.

Here is a mint Scott 657 (probable) constant variety...This stamp was printed on one plate with 4 mini panes of 8 stamps per plate.

FIG.1 shows pane 4 (bottom right) and a single with what I call "RED ELBOW" (stamp B)...It is position 4 of the mini pane of 8...The easiest way to locate it if it is a single is the DONUT that is present on all position 4 stamps as stamp(s) B shows in FIG.2....FIG.3 shows the variety "RED ELBOW" on stamp "B's"...Why I am asking for help is that lately people that control what goes into catalouges have been a bit Leary without 100% identification of constant varieties...I have 2, and I hope some one can produce a 3rd or 4th for me...Thanks in advance.

Robert

I have only UR and LL inscription blocks, so can't help.

In your Fig.3, even enlarging 300%, I do not see any red in either image.

Hi BlackJag

The left stamp (A) is normal, but I have 2 stamps (B) so far with the red dot...Can you see it now...?

Does look like the dark ink was not covering the background as well as in the first picture. Probably more or less ink starvation, but not really a variety I think. Robert, I could have sworn you mentioned this one before ?
You did report this earlier: "Plunger and red spot".

Robert,
Why not bump the original thread (instead of cross posting)?

Robert - that red spot is so small and faint, I can't figure how you ever saw it. Paul

Robert, I see it. I believe it is just a case of low ink - the red is shining through. I see some red in the grayish shape to the left off the red spot and in the right stamp that red seems stronger
