Here's an easy one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1924699259...l_noapp=true

Trying to sell a #640 (rotary) as #560 (flat plate) at a crazy high price. I sent the seller a polite message pointing this out. No response but next day I noticed seller reduced price from $100 to $90. Sad (and maddening). Perhaps if several other SCF members pointed this out to the seller ...

At any given time there are probably 2,000 mis-identified stamps up at ebay…. it is our challenge to find the point 1% that are mis-identified in our favor !

This seller seems to primarily be involved with coins and may not have significant philatelic experience. Perhaps if the seller was informed on how to gauge the perforations they would better understand why this stamp is not as described; using the listing photo it can be demonstrated that it is not a #560.

I shouldn't get my hopes up ... I see he's also selling two mint US CE2's (hinged) for $10 (cat = $0.90). Seller claims to be an APS and ASDA member. I had often wondered if APS and ASDA would ever take action on something like this. I realize it goes on all the time but I believe ASDA society member guidelines would frown upon this type of activity.

Thanks for your posting. The seller doesn't appear in the current ASDA member listings but is a current APS dealer member. My understanding is that both organizations need a written complaint in order to follow-up for legal reasons. I believe that their complaint processes are detailed on their websites.

Canyoneer, just heard back from the ASDA President. She'll be contacting the ebay seller regarding their claim to ASDA membership (a similar sounding company with a similar address was an ASDA member as recent as 2014) Steve Taylor
