Hello, From Byrdstown

Hello all, I am very excited to have found this forum to learn more.I am new to stamps,just trying to figure out how to tell them apart. I bought a box full of old stamps on covers- envelopes at a barn sale ( actually in a barn). Now I am hooked! I have learned a lot already. I would put on pictures but I don't know how yet. I am wondering how to tell the difference between the colors of the 2 cent Washington/Franklin stamps. I read about them being rose, Carmine, lake , but I don't know how to tell the difference. Thank everyone in advance for all your help. Also I hope this comes out ok , computers hate me

Thank you everyone. You all have given me some great info. I will try to send pictures in a couple days .I am learning alot and just my luck to get a box full of the hardest ones to tell apart. So many perf. counts, lines on ribbons, lines in hair, dots under nose,types. I don't know how you all do it.
