I'm glad that my collections end at 2000.

The next generation postal system is paperless, it is called email. Instant, low cost, and it already has world-wide acceptance. So I have questions about crypto-postage stamps.

First, what is the problem are these solving? It seems to me that they are a solution looking for a problem. In other words, this is applying a technology developed for another reason(s) to a postal system.

Second, how does this apply to a digital postal system? The existing postal systems are currently transforming to parcel delivery services. The postal systems already have tracking. Crypto-postage could be used for the payment of parcels but how are they any different than simply using a cryptocurrency?

I have little doubt that cryptocurrency will transform the banking industry. Why print paper money and mint coinage when digital currency is faster and cheaper? So cryptocurrency is to banking what email is to postal systems. BitCoin, one of the first cryptocurrencies, will soon become an afterthought as the 'big boys' have now arrived in this sandbox. Facebook as announced Libra in the last few weeks. Google and Amazon are also getting ready to join the party.

So if a person can pay for their parcel delivery service with a universally accepted, world wide digital cryptocurrency there is no additional value added by also then using crypto-postage.

So for me, crypto-postage is inane; the useless application of a payment technology to a parcel delivery system which already has digital tracking. And once the 800 pound gorillas fully enter cryptocurrency, crypto-postage will be nothing more than a trivia question on 2050 Jeopardy.

Countries with high inflation of national currency can use cryptocurrency, crypto is worldwide and the number of coins is limited. For poststamps its not extra usefull, there are other inventions that will take over the poststamps, like in my country I can buy a code on the postwebsite, write the code with a normal pen on the envelope, where normally you put the poststamp, and the envelope is ready for sending. Terrible.
