I tend to buy some supplies I use for my stamp collection from AC Moore and Michaels.

I use a Fiskars paper cutter to cut stamp mounts:

So I buy replacement blades for it as needed.

I use a Tombow Mono Permannet Adhesive to mount my stamp mounts

Well I buy all these items at AC Moore, because it's right down the road from my house.

Both AC Moore and Michaels have a mailing list. Sign up and they'll send you TONS of coupons for 50% off one item. I use them all the time to buy stuff.

Well, I use the permanent adhesive to mount the stamp to the album page. Should have been clearer.

Ouch! That is tantamount to using scotch tape... Not only will permanently mounted stamps lose their monetary value, but they will also have no collectible value for any future collectors. I'd strongly advise against using any permanent adhesives.

"I use the permanent adhesive to mount the stamp to the album page."

After I picked myself up off the floor, I'm going to assume this is a typo or a misprint. Please say it is.

I updated the post. Mount my STAMP MOUNTS.

Sorry for the heart attack everyone. Breathe into a paper bag until the anxiety passes.

The average stamp mount cutter seems to run $30-$40. A Fiskars paper cutter will run you about the same. But with an AC Moore 50% off coupon, you can get one for $15-$20.

I remember reading that the first stamp album had the stamp spaces tight & as small as the stamp itself. It was designed this way so the owner could trim off those messy perfs & roulettes and glue the stamp nicely and firmly in place. Ah, the good ole days...

And it was entirely rational. You stuck the picture into your book, and didn't worry about the waste material surrounding it. How the owners of early albums would gape at people looking through microscopes to detect minute printing changes, collectors having learned discussions about paper types, home mathemeticians counting little holes, gum fetishists ...

Most anyone who shops at AC Moore or Michael's knows to either wait for a sale or coupon.

What fascinates me about these places is the apparent craft market out there for specialty items yet nearly impossible to find stamp mounts, etc. There are some other hobbies that can sustain stores like these.

The Profolio multi-ring binders sold by both of those retailers hold stamp sheets nicely. The binders come in multiple sizes and are sturdy.

My Fiskars paper trimmer works great for cutting stamp mounts. Jo-Ann's has the 12 inch model on sale at $13.37 (regularly $22.29) and they frequently have Fiskars (make in the U.S.) products on sale, plus I'm signed up for their coupons. Michael's Craft Shop runs a coupon in our Sunday paper. Plus, replacement blades are available for the Fiskars cutter.

I buy my replacement blades at Jo-Ann's or Michael's Craft Shop when they offer discounts. It's the same product, Private Labeled.
