Any One Know Information On These?

How many different types of these? If so how can I tell them apart ? Are any valuable? I have read about so many stamps the last 2 weeks I am so confused I can't tell one from the other.Thank everyone for all the help and all the great links ,I am still learning , I can't think and remember like I used to tho, thank you all for the help.

There are multiple slightly different dies for this design -- this design was in use for decades and was recut many times. Further, there are differing color shades for both the stamp and the envelope paper. The differences between the dies are minute (slightly thicker or thinner letters, the shape of the neckline, the position of the top of the head, etc. all vary). I don't think any of yours are rare, though a couple scarce varieties do exist.

Pick up the Scott Specialized Catalog of US Stamps, or the first volume of the general Scott Catalog containing the United States. Under stamped envelopes, both catalogs list the different dies and how they are distinguished (the specialized catalog has bigger illustrations and additional information, and is generally the better reference). These books will quite likely be available at a local library.

As I suggested to you in another post, if you post these in the BOB section of this forum you will get better an faster results

Thank you I submitted this to go to the back of the book Peter.Also thank you codehappy,for your info I have several of these and several of all the kinds I have put on here and also different ones maybe some day I will get all of these figured out .

RCstamps, may I also suggest you check with the United Postal Stationery Society at www.upss.org ? They have issued a catalog of these covers two years ago that has great info on IDing these.
