...I'm embarrassed to admit I am unable to make heads or tails of the message on this Posen card. In my defense, I've forgotten a lot since my parents passed decades ago as I just don't have occasion to use the language any more, save for the rare trip to the Continent.

Anyone out there able to decipher the message? The handwriting is of the old, high cursive style adding to my difficulty...for all I know, I might even be looking at Polish writing. Any assistance would be immensely appreciated.

It is in German.

Look like line 2 and 3 read as: nur mit briefsendung uber warschau moglich. Roughly translated only post via Warsaw is possible.

Under Postkarte one can read Uber Warschau > Via Warsaw. Which seems to confirm this.

Looks like a heads up to tell post is at that moment going via a detour.

Above is my personal thought, if wrong is stand corrected.

Johan

Thanks Johan. Good eye! 'Moglich' seems so obvious now that you've pointed it out.

Johan got the gist of it. The handwriting is very difficult, but I think I've figured out most of it:

Sehr geehrter Herr,
Von hier aus nur
Verbindung über
Warschau möglich
und offen. Zus. [=Zusendung?] der
best. [=bestellten?] ??? kann
daher erst erfolgen
wenn(?) Postsperren(?)
aufgehoben.

Which would mean something like:

Honored sir,
From here only a connection via Warsaw is possible and open.
Shipment of the ordered ??? can therefore not occur until postal blockades(?) are lifted.

It looks like it's addressed to someone with the name of "Becker" in Dortmund if I'm reading that correctly? My last name is Becker and I believe my ancestors hailed from that general vicinity of Germany. Perhaps a distant relative of mine?
