Can anybody help me identify this Grenada watermark variety? This is a rough perf 15 with what appears to be the dull rose red shade (Scott 5a, Gibbons 8). Gibbons notes that this shade has a sideways small star watermark, however the watermark looks more like something that would be found in the selvage. I mistook it for laid paper at first. Any clues here?
Remember, common stamps occur commonly, rarer ones not so much.
These stamps come in shades according to SG. You need to find a small star-sideways. By the way, the Scott 4 6p rose can also be found with small star-sideways.
This stamp was tucked in a small stockbook with lots of early Victorian issues, including many in the $200-$500 range. Fine with me if it is a humble rose. Honestly I am more curious about what would cause the bizarre watermark, regardless of the color shade. I have never seen one like it before.
It is lines from the sheet watermark in the margins, not uncommon for earlier Victorian issues. I don't have a picture of it, but the stamp appears to be a Scott #4 to me also, so then it would be for the small star watermark.

I'd very much like to see an example, never crossed anything like that before. Looks like damage to me, not a watermark, perhaps stored in a "magnetic" stamp album. Happy to stand corrected.
