Got a phone call this morning of another mailing from a ebay sales not received and customer wants a refund .

Two things about this claim as with the others. First it is a low feedback or new person to ebay .Second they don't go thru ebay and file a claim ,they want to handle it without ebay involument .

Now the million dollar question ----How does the POST OFFICE only lose my mailings only to low feedback customers ?

Four loses in two months all the same .....

When I was selling on ebay, I believe all of my "lost in the mail" situations occurred with low, or no feedback buyers.

I would never pay any claim unless it went through ebay.

At least, they are then on the Radar.

I could also be friends getting others to get free stamps or the same buyer with different ID's.

I had it happen in Canada and he got brothers and sisters to buy for him in an attempt to get more free.

Buyers today are not the same as 20 years ago and feel entitled, and have no qualms about getting freebees when they can.

Sounds a lot like Amazon, who doesn't defend sellers against fraudulent claims of non-receipt. As a seller I get 5 to 7 of those claims every week.

One could always adjust settings so you're only selling to a buyer with a minimum rating.

Tracking is a must. Find an item on Amazon shipped without tracking. Good luck.

Did the items lost in the mail have tracking on them?

Hi Floortrader
Definitely force them to go thru ebay and as Shermae suggests adjust your selling parameters to exclude low rated buyers. I get this from time to time and have to accept it as a cost of doing business. Unless you have tracking or a receipt of delivery its an unfortunate situation.

Good luck
Rich

USPS Tracking does nothing. I've seen tracked mail just disappear. Recorded leaving one site and never recorded as having reached the next destination. Gone forever.

That is a mail issue not a scammer issue. If you have tracking and it is shown as delivered to the buyers address of record you have proof that you upheld your end of the deal. Unless of course they are really slimy and claim that the envelope was empty.

Everything* I ship is tracked. Amazon doesn't care. Most claims received are for items noted as "Delivered" on USPS.com.

Signed-for isn't an option due to cost. Can't absorb it, can't pass it on.

As far as Amazon goes, it doesn't matter. Seller screwed. Juss sayin'.

Floor = we need context. Four in 2 months out of how many shipments? Out of 100, then a vert high %, out of 1000, then not so high.

Items being sold are under $10.00 and $1.00 for postage . Tracking is not possible at that cost level . Selling about 75 items per month .

I believe there are buyers out there who live for these small scams, it is a shame ebay doesn't maintain a "disputed " page that sellers can review.

Raise your postage to $2.00. That should cover the scammers.

Tell your regular customers to wait for your invoice. For preferred buyers you can adjust shipping lower when you cut the invoice.
