In celebration of the bicentennial for the founding of Singapore in 1819, the Singapore postal service released a series of first day covers, presentation packs, and 2 different designs of collector's miniature sheets. All the mentioned items were sold out on the first day of release. There are only 1000 imperf collector's sheet issued and they had all been sold out on the first day of release today (5 July 2019). I was fortunate enough to get my hands on 6 of the imperf collector's sheets from a seller who only sold me at a marginal profit.
I end my Singapore collection at December 31, 1999. A look at catalog pages from the year 2000 on, shows a dramatic increase in the number of issues. There are many "face different" stamps on the same sheet, too many unnecessary issues, and too many "collectors' sheets" (contrived scarce items).
So, I chose not to continue beyond 1999. I still accumulate some Singapore stamps beyond this date, but I do not actively collect them.
This is not to disparage Singapore Post. For worldwide, I generally do not go beyond 1999 (with rare exceptions), for the reasons stated above.
I have not bought a Singapore stamp in ages up until today. I can ignore most of the commemorative sheets, but the bicentennial one is too important for me to cast it aside.
