An illustrated commercial cover from a Hong Kong custom tailor that I collected for its different, ribbon-like airmail border. The cover is franked with Hong Kong Sc. 498, the $1.30 stamp from the 1987 ER II definitive set.

I was listing for sale some of the covers I got from a recently acquired collection, and came across this interesting cover. An Air-Mail cover to Pan American Director of the Southeast Asia Office.

I was able to find a Wikipedia page on the guy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Cowden

I not a cover collector so I listed it for sale on ebay. Here is the link if anyone is interested.

Came across this interesting air mail cover carried ay high altitude balloon apparently from Steinhuserburg, Switzerland to somewhere Colorado, USA.

I researched this event and pilot Fred Holder but didn't come up with anything definitely enough worthy of posting here. Any input?

I especially like the local post of the 10c Balloon Mail stamp.

A recently acquired 1946 cover out of Buenos Aires that I bought to add to my Variant Airmail Borders collection. Lightning bolts around the edges, plus appropriately colored U.S., U.K., and Argentinian contrails trailing the airplane. Unusually clean cancel, too. While this cover seems chronologically early, the "ERGON" in the lower right corner may refer to the petroleum-related company of that name.

A nice air mail cover from Sweden. This cover could also fit into the category of "Pictorial Cancellations". Believed to be dated Nov 11, 1999.

Another one from Australia showing America's Cup Triumph 1983. I received some classic US stamps from there and was quite pleased with them.

Notice the stamps went unconcealed.

Anyone want the envelope or soaked off stamps free of charge and mailing.? Email me.

John

Here is a July, 8 1955 airmail cover from Sydney, Australia to Boston, Mass., USA. The slightly diagonal lines of the edging are red and black, as is the etiquette. Third pic shows the lining, which is blue and barely visible from the outside.

Hi there!
Here an Airmail cover from Rome, Italy to Porto Alegre, Brazil with censor stamp from State of Rio Grande do Sul. Note the tag "Via Ala Littoria". If not mistaken this Italian airline flew to South America for a short period. Unfortunately a stamp is missing on the cover.

Netherlands 1939 Air Mail to Hobart, Australia.

Anyone out there able to work this rate out? It would include the Post Office Express Delivery Fee, which is interesting in itself, as the Mercury office in Hobart was next door to the GPO.
