Looks like a section of the great wall of China. And the characters on the cancellation. Try that area.

These are revenue stamps of China from before World War 2, both used. There is more than one issue with this design; hopefully someone with the reference material can pin down the date.

They started implementing these in 1913. It is believed that there are over 20,000 different varieties of overprint since each province, town, and office had their own. I am trying to narrow down a couple of the overprints I have as well.
