10 Cents Stamp 9 Perforate?

Please advice if the perfs on this stamp is 10 or 9. Thank you Mara

Can only guess without a perf gauge. No US stamps come in perf 9.

Looks like perf 10 all around. To determine top and bottom perfs count the holes/perfs. If there are two half perf holes on sides then add that as one ie if theres 9 perfs and two halfs then its perf 10 otherwise if ends on whole perfs at 10 then its ten. Its diff for the sides. For sides, count the perf holes and minus 2. It pretty easy unless dealing with a known 11x10 1/2 perf stamp, hard to guage the 1/2 perf. Believe only perf varieties for this stamp is 10x10, 11x11, or 11x10 at top or bottom rare Scott 562c. Theres no perf 9 for this stamp. Perf ten tabs between perf holes are a bit wider than 11 since the perfs are spaced out more. Pic one is 9 perfs but two half perfs making it perf 10. The second picture has all tens perfs. Both pics are perf 10, but same applies for the perf 11 in terms of how to count them. All of this could be easily figured with a $5 perf guage you might want to look into obtaining.

jcstamp, Please, please do NOT recommend counting perfs for beginners. It only leads to misidentifications and confusion. It only "works" for some issues.

Marapaul, I agree with Peter, please obtain a perforation gauge and become adept at using it.

The longer answer to this post and many of your other posts is that we are trying to teach you how to fish instead of continually giving you fish. We are trying to guide you to the online and printed catalogs and to the common tools of the hobby so that you become proficient at identifying your stamps correctly on your own and thus determining their value.

Lol, I was waiting for that comment. I gave insight and RECOMMENDED to easily determine with a perf guage. Maybe even link the stamp smarter perf guage you can print since, hard time locating it. Otherwise can search Precision US Specialty Multi Gauge is a good one you can get on ebay.

Just saying 120 post and still no perf guage if just begining?

Its too taboo to discuss other possible experienced ways on this site besides using the correct tools to determine your stamp. We cant do the work for you. Get the tools if you want the correct answer otherwise all youll get here is, "get a perf gauge" or "call the PF". Ofcourse besides some insight Im willing to share and learned by one self along with agreeing getting a perf guage is your best bet.
