Not Understanding This George Bush FDC

I'm not a FDC collector per se, but I was looking at this one for my collection of Yale-related material. The first day of issue was June 12 in College Station TX as I understand it, but is the Yale Station postmark just added by whoever did the artwork on this?

I also note that the Yale Station postmark has New Heaven instead of New Haven although the zipcode is correct. After spending 4 years in that forgettable city, I would never mistake it for heaven.

The cachet at the lower left is a remainder generic (or general purpose) cachet from the 1950s. Chronologically, the Yale Station postmark would have been added and canceled on the actual first day (great to find a typo in a postmark!!), then mailed-in within the grace period to get the Texas FDC cancel.

Or another explanation is that the preparer used that left over generic first day envelope to get the first day of issue cancel at College Station and then made up their own private "Yale Station" cancelation device and used it to cancel another stamp after the real first day of issue cancel was applied. I have a hard time believing that the people at Yale did not know how to spell the name of the city in which they are located. That card on ebay could also be another creation of the person who did this cover. I think that if I were interested in it (I am not) that before I spent a penny on this cover that I would contact the New Haven post office and ask them whether that was a real postmark.

Well, if I was paying $50 for it and relying on the authenticity of that postmark, I certainly would follow up on it. But it's just for a casual collection of memorabilia and I find the misspelling an interesting quirk, so a few bucks won't hurt. I just don't know much about FDCs, so I was curious about what folks with more experience might explain about it. Thanks for your perspective and input.
