Hi--

I just purchased my very own Big Blue and I downloaded the checklist from Jim Jackson's fantastic website. I can't seem to find Tannu Tuva in the 215 page checklist I downloaded (PDF). I have the Checklist from his blog on Tanna Tuva but I can't seem to locate it on the checklist. Is it me or is it missing?

Thanks,
Jackie

I don't see it listed in the PDF version of the checklist either.

Hello Jackie

Thanks for the kudos on the BB checklists.

You are correct - Tannu Tuva in the PDF checklist is missing. Although not ideal, I would suggest penciling in the missing Tannu Tuva. A friend of mine did the PDF checklist. Obviously there are a few small omission errors in the PDF checklist, but it is still a nice compact approach - I had the pages printed and bound and use it myself.

The checklists on my blog ( which I am directly responsible for) have Tannu Tuva in the correct place.

All the best!

Jim Jackson

Thanks, Jim. I will definitely do that. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing them somewhere (it's been known to happen). I did see that you have the stamps listed in the blog on Tanna Tuva. When I lived in Mongolia I saw Tanna Tuva from the steppes of Northwest Mongolia. Sadly I did not have a visa for Russia so was unable to visit. . .

For a fascinating account of someone who also wanted to go to Tannu Tuva, but didn't quite make it, read the 1991 book Tuva or Bust by Ralph Leighton. It's the story of Nobel Prize winning physicist Richard Feynman's quest to go there on a cultural exchange. He wanted to go there for the most unusual of reasons. He found out that its capital city, Kyzyl, "doesn't have a legitimate vowel." Really interesting book and a wonderful memorial to Feynman who died not long before the book was published
