A bit of history/trivia for you Guatemala Collectors; this article is from the May 1920 issue of Canadian Stamp Collector.

That's so ironic, Phil. I was thinking exactly the same thing when I read the article. Maybe someone will post a scan of their Guatemala 162, so I can see his "lifelike picture on a beautiful stamp"

Phil:

I know you've been "acquiring" a scanner new scanner for a while now. I'm curious what kind you finally bought. I have a little Cannon scanner -- inexpensive and simple, but it works for my needs.

Kirk

P.S. .. Did you like my pun? Scanner, Edit-->Acquire

Oh wow. That's a nice one -- Very hi-res. I don't know exactly without looking it up, but I'm sure it's at least 1200 dpi. If you're into photography, you'll be able to scan photos (or anything) and make great prints. And I know all the pixma's read camera cards too.

Don't you just love new toys

Thanks to KirkS for mentioning this. It caused me to do some research on him and I found he was quite an interesting person. I will now appreciate this stamp all the more.

Comparing my 1925 edition to my 1997 Scott catalogue I find that #162 is now #161.

Thanks for posting the scan, OldGum.

It's a beautiful blue, isn't it? And the offset center grabs the eye.
