I have collected since about 1960, thanks to my mother and my grandfather's being collectors. I joined APS in 1974, but have always found life getting in the way. Even though I still have a career, I decided about 6 months ago that this was a good way to spend my down time to relax. I finally upgraded to life member in APS, and USSS to boot. I am an experienced beginner with lots to learn.
My interests are mainly US - singles, plate blocks, etc., but I am now broadening that to whatever captures my fancy at any given time - Great Britain has quite a bit of appeal. My other hobby has been genealogy and I am fortune to have family letters and postcards, going as far back as 1839. That creates a bridge between the hobbies for me.
The value in my collection is what I learn and the satisfaction gained. I have just joined this forum and still exploring, but it looks great!
