Not a U.S. expert but why does a used
stamp have gum.

Well the cancel on the stamp make it used not the gum hope this helps

PKLee seems to think that he stumbles across rarities all the time. At least that's the case with the three or four stamps he has posted so far. When given the honest assessment of knowledgeable people on the forum (opinions he asked for!), he becomes by turns intransigent and rude. I think it is fair to say that SCF members would welcome news about a find of a genuine rarity. Let's hope PKLee gets one of those someday. If he should find a rare stamp and have his opinion confirmed with a cert, I'd love to hear from him. Otherwise, speaking just for myself, not so much.

May I suggest that we just stop our replies to this thread. Pklee has promised to send it in for a cert and to inform us regardless of the findings. By continuing the conversation, we are only adding to the animosity. Let's just wait and see where this leads, steak dinner or not.

Sometimes the only way for some to learn is by thinning their wallets, let it ride. The only question remaining is whether or not the OP has enough dignity to eat a slice of humble pie, assuming of course that the stamp is actually submitted.

Reviving this older thread to see if PKLEE has gotten the results back yet. It has been 3 months since your statement that you were sending it in for certification. Your email system is not accepting responses, and there was an implicit promise to post the results ... good or bad. Please give us the news!

I am a new member and am seeking information on stamps that have been in the family for generations. It is not easy to put up the images for one such as I and I think that Don has given very good direction for the less experienced here, I appreciate that. Nevertheless I have collected for over 50 years and am not very sophisticated at it. You understanding is appreciated. Thank you.
